A Tribute to David Halberstam

David Halberstam The literary world suffered a great loss on April 23 when David Halberstam, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of 21 books, was killed in an automobile accident south of San Francisco. Halberstam was 73.

In this podcast, Will Schwalbe, Halberstam’s friend and the editor of his last four books, reflects on his life and the contributions he made to our world.

    Thank you so much for this terrific interview.

    David Halberstam was a thoroughly admirable pro. I was rocked by this tragic loss. He’s been such an inspiration to me in my budding second career as a writer. I will keep his books in a special place as an example of honor, dignity and decency and inimitable brains, style and grace.

    RIP dear Mr. Halberstam. And tremendous sympathies to his wife and daughter.

    Your comments re: David Halberstam and his untimely death mirror my own feelings. I was devastated when I heard he had died; as if I had lost a good friend.

    I look forward to hearing the podcast. Mr. Halberstam’s voice should live on as long as his beautiful writing.
